JTV has focused on building a dedicated resource for the public, and professionals, to learn about gemstones. This information has found its home on the appropriately named gemstones.com website. It was intended to be free of all advertising so as not to distract the reader’s attention from finding and studying the information provided.
One of the first projects that I worked on for JTV was to write a selection of articles for the website. The articles often focus on helping people to understand a concept, distinguish between gemstones, or to support them in learning how to use the essential tools that you will find in every gemologist’s toolkit.

The article on Moissanite vs. Diamond is one that I originally wrote in 2022 when, as far as I was concerned, the writing was on the wall for laboratory-grown diamonds. Prices were sure to collapse to the point where other alternatives such as, in this case, Moissanite, were viable options if the reason for buying was more than just for the sake of having a diamond.
So, you want extreme fire and dispersion in a colorless gemstone that is hard enough to endure as a daily centrestone? Why bother with a lab-grown diamond? Get a moissanite. For fire and dispersion, you will get more bang for your buck 😉
